HELP IMPROVE THE
QUALITY OF TEACHING
IN EAST TIMOR
A FIRST FOR AUSTRALIA
Peter Jong, an Australian of East Timorese descent is attempting
to become the first Australian to complete the 4 Deserts Grand Slam,
and run the RacingThePlanet roving race in 2010, a total of 1250 kilometers in just one season.
Matthew Hayden, Former Australian Cricket Great, Recipe book compiler and now author of Standing My Ground - his autobiography, graced the studio of the Conversation Hour to talk cricket, life and food.
Peter Jong, fresh off the plane from Egypt has only one thing standing between him and his goal of raising $30,000 by running through five of the world's great deserts. Most people would be overwhelmed by that 'one thing' being Antarctica, but not Peter. He sees his mission as a celebration of life and is confident that his positivity will help keep him going through what must be akin to physical torture!
Jon Faine was joined in the Conversation Hour studio by Adam Rozenbachs, keen runner and 'cricket tragic' as well as writer, comedian and 774 Drive regular.
Working with the committee from Friends of Ermera, my goal this year is to raise $30,000 through fund raising to allow 10 young people from Ermera to become fully qualified primary school teachers. Read More
